Footprint - is a community-led project from Community Links that helps families take confident next steps — in shoes that don’t cost the earth.
Every year, thousands of pairs of children’s shoes are thrown away while many families struggle with the rising cost of the school day. Footprint tackles both issues head-on by collecting good-quality shoes that still have plenty of life left and redistributing them free of charge to local families.
It’s a simple idea with a big impact — easing financial pressure, reducing waste, and showing how small, local actions can make a real difference for people and the planet.

We’re in the very early stages of developing this new community initiative, which will collect and redistribute good-quality children’s shoes to families who need them most. Our goal is to ensure every child has comfortable, well-fitting footwear while promoting reuse and reducing waste. Details about how the project will run — including upcoming pop-up shops - will be shared soon. Watch this space for updates as the Footprint Project takes its first steps!
Our donation boxes are currently located in Hamilton and Blantyre ASDAs, and we hope to be in various schools and nurseries around South Lanarkshire in the new term.
